About Ben Greilanger

I have always been interested in older homes and buildings. I'm curious how people lived a century ago, what they were worried about or what their daily lives were like.

During the spring of 2017, while volunteering at Flat Earth Brewery in the historic Hamm’s Brewery of East Saint Paul, I began to wonder what the brewery looked like in its prime. That led me to the Minnesota Historical Society Archives to research photos. The amount of history I found was wonderfully dizzying.

After finding some Hamm's photos, I wandered around the brewery until I could place the photos. After seeing the potential at this one brewery I began to wonder, what else is around Saint Paul?

What started as a passive curiosity has grown into a passion for architecture, history, photography and a stronger sense of place and time.
